Basic equipment: Meade LX200 10" f6.3 SCT, Meade Super Wedge; Starlight Xpress MX516 CCD camera; IR cutoff filter. All images are unguided, taken from my home in Tinton Falls, NJ.
[Note: The sky cleared off at around 11:00 p.m., and I was joined by Joe Makoviecki for an imaging session. Skies were very transparent, as the temperature had dropped and the humidity was fairly low. -GW]NGC1245, an open cluster in Perseus, magnitude 8.4, diameter 10'. Images were taken using the f/6.3 focal reducer, for an effective f/ratio of f/4, and the Homeyer color filter wheel was in place. This is a composite made from 6 images for a total integration time of 9 minutes. Images were first processed using AstroArt for dark frame removal and flat frames, then aligned. Images were processed with Maximum Entropy Deconvolution. The resulting images were transferred to MaxIm, and composited. The composite image was then processed with Digital Development (FFT, low-pass, mild), and a contrast stretch. Images were taken between 12:11 and 12:23 a.m., the morning of October 8th, 2000.
