Comet Linear. This is a composite made from 8 1-minute exposures, combined in MaxIm after dark frame subtraction and flat frames. This composite shows the rapid movement of Comet Linear. These 8 exposures were taken between 4:40 a.m. and 4:49 a.m. on the morning of the 6th. For the composite, I aligned the images on the nucleus of the comet head, using the MaxIm one-star composite feature. The comet was actually below my tree line at the time, so this is a "between the leaves" shot. That's why the background is so bright on the right-hand side. Not a "pretty" picture in any sense, but a bit interesting, as this is my first effort at photographing a comet with the LX200 and the MX516 CCD setup.
NGC6842 a planetary nebula in Vulpecula, magnitude 13.1, dimensions 53" x 48". The central star is magnitude 14.5. This is a composite made from 24 1-minute exposures, combined in MaxIm after dark frame subtraction and flat frames, then processed with Digital Development (FFT low-pass, hard) an unsharp mask (FFT low-pass, hard), and finally a strong contrast stretch. These exposures were taken between 12:06 a.m. and 12:40 a.m. on the morning of the 6th.
